Ann Vaughn Clark, Ph.D.

RUTHERFORDTON – Ann Vaughn Clark Crummie was born Charlotte Ann Ruffin Vaughn on February 28, 1938 in Hamlet, North Carolina to Edward and Ruth Vaughn. She passed away on May 14, 2017 at her home in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. She is survived by her husband Robert G. Crummie, MD and her children and their spouses, Nolan “Scotty” Clark Jr. (Maria), Glenn Clark, Keri Clark Bartholomew (Bobby), Jennifer Clark Jones (Russ), as well as the step children she loved as her own, Robert Crummie Jr. (Angie), Ryan Crummie (Leah), Rhett Crummie (April), Reid Crummie (Jill), Ginny Crummie, Rebecca Crummie Bradley, Ruby Crummie Fariello (Andrew) and Robin Crummie Palmer (Gib) Palmer. She leaves many cherished others including her siblings Edward Vaughn Jr. (Susie), Janie Vaughn King (Malcolm) and John Vaughn (Linda), 26 grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and former dance and academic students all across the country. Ann founded the Ann Clark School of Dance in Fayetteville where she taught, choreographed and directed for many years. She earned a BS degree in Biology from Methodist University and Masters and PhD degrees in psychology from North Carolina State University. She taught at several universities and was a practicing psychologist with her psychiatrist husband, Robert, before her retirement. She was a member of Saint Francis Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton, NC. In keeping with her unselfish nature and love of learning, she has donated her earthly body for scientific research. There will be a memorial service celebrating her life on Thursday, May 25th 2017 at 1:00 pm in Fayetteville at Saint John’s Episcopal Church..
