Dr. David Bloodgood has practiced relational therapy in Central Florida for more than 20 years. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Sex Therapy, a Master’s Degree in Counseling, and has been an adjunct professor of master’s level college courses in Mental Health Therapy. For more than two decades he has helped 100s of couples and individuals achieve more satisfying, fulfilling, and harmonious relationships.

Virtually all the problems people face (or respond to) in life have their roots in relationships- relationships from childhood thru to present relationships. Finding a solution to those problems never involves determining who is to blame. Blame serves very little useful purpose in therapy. Therapy is designed to discover what isn’t working for an individual or couple and provide alternative beliefs and behaviors that lead to resolution and healing. It is Dr. Bloodgood’s intention to assist people in discovering the source and means for making positive changes in the lives of individuals and couples.

Often when people arrive in this office they are familiar with conflict only in painfully non-productive ways- yelling, angry accusation, defensive responses, and the endless reiteration of resentments and negative occurrences from the past. Therapy in this office is not designed to eliminate all conflict from a relationship. Conflict can never be totally eliminated in any relationship. Developing the means and methods for engaging in empowering conflict is essential. Non-defensive, respectful, solution focused conflict leads to a stronger and more harmonious relational experience. The therapy experience in Dr. Bloodgood’s office can often promote that development and give individuals and couples the opportunity to practice useful and effective conflict in a controlled setting. Expect to be guided and assisted in learning to turn conflicted issues into resolution and growth through empathy, understanding, and appropriate forgiveness. It is a vital part of the therapeutic experience.
